How to import a Marvelous Designer fabric properties preset?
To import a Marvelous physical properties preset, first click on the fabric you want to apply it to.
Next, expand the “Physical Property” settings in the “Property Editor”.
Then click on the folder icon to the right of the “Preset” row.
Navigate to the folder where you have the Marvelous Designer fabric preset. Select the desired preset.
That’s it! The Marvelous Designer physical property preset has now been applied to your fabric and will affect any clothing part(s) in your scene which have that fabric applied to them.
All that’s left for you to do is to simulate your clothing again for the preset to take effect.
If you don’t simulate again, the MD clothes won’t change.
If you want to apply a Marvelous physical property preset to one part of your clothes only (like a stiff leather preset for a belt) then create a fabric for the belt, import the belt preset, and apply that fabric to the belt.
Did you know?
Marvelous Designer physical property presets have a .PPS extension.
This type of preset’s icon on windows is a grey square with the blue words “PREFS”.
.Zfab presets are not physical property presets – they are fabric presets which include color, texture, specular, emission, opacity settings along with the physical property settings.
If you import a Zfab fabric preset instead of a physical property preset, it will override any color and texture settings you applied to your clothing.
If your clothing does not change after applying a fabric physical property preset which is drastically different than the previous settings, this means you have a Marvelous Designer physical property bug. Here’s how to solve it and get the clothes to react to the preset.
