Game Character Creation Workflow for Beginners
This video tutorial is divided in two parts. In first part you’ll learn that where to start for a character creation and up to the character texturing process. In second part you’ll learn how to create normal maps for game character and what is require to animate 3d character. By following this tutorial you’ll be able to find out which software you need to learn for which process.
As shown in below images there are different software used for different process at each stage. For example base mesh was created in Maya. Then Sculpting was done in Zbrush. Then for UV unwrapping and texturing he uses 3D Coat. Then he exported high resolution mesh and low resolution mesh to generate normal map using Xnormal. At the end he used Maya to rig the game character.
There are different workflow for creating game character. It may vary from people to people. And of course you can use different software too. Like you are beginner then you may try Blender for modeling purpose. You can also use Mudbox for sculpting. But the point is that the process will be same and you have to go through each stage.
