In this free Marvelous Designer tutorial for beginners you’ll learn how to make Marvelous Designer stitches for your 3D digital clothing.
To create the stitches effect on your Marvelous Designer clothes, you’ll need to download our free Marvelous Designer stitches texture or create your own in Photoshop.
This method works fast and easy for creating straight lines of stitches. If you want to create stitches around curved edges or stitched designs, you’ll need to download our free Photoshop stitches brushes.
NOTE: If you want to create two lines of stitches for a double stitch effect, do NOT copy and paste the 2D graphic texture of stitches! While it looks fine in Marvelous Designer, if you export the 3D clothing to render them, you will get overlapping faces that will result in ugly broken results like this:
The best way to create a double stitch effect, is to load in a texture that has very little empty space over and under the stitches. Then use the pattern transform tool and texture transform tool in Marvelous Designer to increase or decrease the height of the texture until you have two stitch lines.
